Master thread indicated that there is currently no way to see how much Platinum you currently had, can only view it when the event is active. There may be monthly limits that you could trade (e.g. exhaust all the options available if you choose), but looks like you can stockpile unused Platinum for future with no max limit. Someone asked this same question on the E&P Facebook page, the official answer from E&P also confirms this.

Wilbur - 4* - Fire - Lagoon - Hero Topic
Shohoku79 replied to Maryij - Ghost Division RO's topic in Fire
The Wilbur card arrived at a time when there were not nearly as many cards and game mechanics as there are now, that got one of those "game changer tags" that Boldtusk once had when vanillas were still prominent, largely because it did what no other cards did at the time, and that was SC (Spirit Link as it was once called) for both allies and opponents, and also that defensive buff on allies and defensive down on enemies. Many at the time saw the impact of the SC, sure it made allies survive longer because of the damage sharing, but how does it help when the damage sharing applies to enemies (it was considered a buff at the time, ergo, made individual enemies harder to kill because the damage is spread out). S2 arrived when fast snipers are still highly prized commodities for their abilities to decimate opponents by firing in quick succession, so SC being applied seemed counterintuitive. The devastating impact shows up when it is combined with the right cards. This was also the time when going rainbow was deemed too basic and not maximizing the damage potential (going mono was on the up and up). So how would a ultra defensive looking support card which also seem to give a buff to the opponent beneficial? The key is exactly in the SC and the mono nature of attack team and defense team. When using Wilbur, and if your attack team also features a attack buffer, for me that's BT, which also helps with red attack stack, it means I will have at least one color less and that creates the gap in elemental damage. So when there are colors made unavailable, it does create damage gaps against the opponent from tiles (1 damage from hero missing). However, when you have the SC activated, those opponents who normally would have survived with those tile damages missing the corresponding colored heroes will receive damages received by those that are being damaged by the tiles. The SC, being considered a positive, generally gets applied instead of blocked by ailment blockers. So Wilbur fires off the special, it creates a better shielding by not just SC, but also a defensive buff, the opponent, receiving a def down in addition to the SC, having a damage manipulator is where this created "kill dome" will see its potential. So at the time, the newer heroes of the damage manipulators are the likes of Tarlak and Miki, but their damage output are generally capped at a percentage, having neither of them, I had Wu Kong whose damage augmentation cap is higher. The combination of the BT attack buff, Gambler's Stance, and the Def down, and damage sharing, and assuming the hits connect, generally can wipe out the opposing field or severely maiming them (even those that don't have right colored tiles hitting them are not totally safe from damage). This setup has a lot of luck needed, the tiles need to be favorable, and the damage will only work if they land (Wu's potential damage caused is higher, but they can also totally miss, so while Tarlak/Miki manipulated damage are capped at a lower, they at least don't miss, unless blinded, so could potentially add up to a better damage output than Wu's scenario). The scenario (which does take some setting up) still has drawbacks and potentials for backfires. It relies heavily on favorable board placement and cascades of favorable colors being best case scenario. However, if the opponent has Riposte activated and you didn't dispel it first, this whole setup can end up wiping out your own team, and if the boards are bad or if the cascades are not the right colors, you might have also managed to do little to no damage and charged up the opponent. I had the luck of getting Wilbur back as he was just being released when Season 2 is still ongoing. Back then, my roster didn't have too many cards that allow me to advance very far in PvE contents, when he showed up, and also when I did also managed to get Proteus, I started being able to pass PvE events with some setup and the typical 3 boss event stages are generally done very quickly without the bosses being able to do much. I eventually did get Wilbur C1, but I still stayed with his base and totally still welcomed the costume stat bonus. I still use Wilbur from time to time and he is one of my favorite cards.- 1 reply

Ariel was one of those cards that gave me a trip down memory lane, as someone who quipped that I don't ever get the new cards (even when I beat the odds and grab one) on the first pass (e.g. when they make their very first appearance with a New tag). Throughout the S2 release, the storyboard had her adventuring with the gang, and I had commented on how much her blue hair is just going wild everywhere on the screen. So never did manage to get her during her initial release, it was actually during her costume's first release during an Atlantis Rises sessions, and I was trying a summoning trick some of my alliance mates say they try, and that was to summon with less than 30 seconds to go before the portal closes up. Did that with Atlantis Coins that time and managed to get her base and costume. Unfortunately, with my type of play style, I actually didn't work on her for a very long time (I work on 3* before 4* before 5*) and there were a lot of interruptions even during this process. So by the time I finished with both her base and costume, she was already 1 or 2 shots away from dead from one of the more modernized heroes. I use her costume form more because I like boosted health that goes over the max, had it been the first gen HoT (e.g. don't go over the max), I would have probably stuck with her base form for the bulk heal. She still comes with me when I need an abled bodied card for trips up the various towers. I do have Thalassa (with costume), just haven't gotten around to work on her yet. Guess she's like Ariel's grandma? So I can see similarities in the abilities but just with passive attached.

Playing as a collector, if roster space is not an issue, I might be able to save up enough duplicates to do the 50 once every two years. But since roster space is not free, and quite expensively so to keep up in order to hold these dupes, I wouldn't be able to do so. I'd hope they won't make this happen and just keep incorporating what they did recently (public poll/vote to decide who gets in). But if they do, The most I'd see myself do is to save up to 20 as a stretch, and pluck one from 5 and another from 15.

Marjana, Feral Reaver of the Scorched Lands
Shohoku79 replied to Habanero's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
Aside from a few that obvious look like they have borrowed body parts from the others, I think the vanilla heroes had one of the best art styles I have seen in this game, especially the 5* heroes. Marjana was one that fits the bill. I also got her in TC20 one day (all of the classic 5* I owned I got their first copies from TC20, rant/story for another day). Marjana hits fast/hard and does DoT in the classic form and was my primary damage output in red until I was able to find better options and had her re-assigned to other duties. Had wanted to have her C1 to replace G. Falcon for Fire EDD, but when nothing panned out in Costume Chamber summons and HA10, I ended up using a visit from Lionstring to pull the trigger for her C1 at the very least. While I could see a fiery fire about her, I am not sure I find the barbaric / feral aspect appealing. Guess I always thought of her as the pirate/swashbuckler with a sense of allure and style about her. Nevertheless, I guess your depiction here would be more on the lines of, she got shipwrecked and surrounded by hostiles (goblins/orcs, etc.), how she manage to fight her way out with limited resources at her disposal. The enemies are about to find out when they stoke that fire too hard, they get burned in return. While I do vote mostly on the females character arts, I do however like to see the above mentioned Lionstring, how is he able to in his shop in the Astral planes, what is going on inside his mind when he is able to manipulate the astral planes' energies to come up with the costumes for the heroes across the realms that he had seen only once. -
I got farther than I had in the past when I finally got LoTL up to run flank to Ludwig. But when the last Mimic went 15* Titan and constantly removed the minions is when my primary strategy fell apart (unfortunately unlike Titans they don't have weak spots), I guess I will try to bring Overhealers next time too. Don't feel like to try another 25 WE for a Pin that has no bearing on gameplay.

Outlaws of Liangshan / Heroes or Zeroes?
Shohoku79 replied to Shohoku79's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
I don't doubt the potency and strength with some of these cards. I guess the point of my post was more discussing their significance from a story/lore perspective in relation to how/where they found their place in this game. -
Couldn't find a good section for this so I placed it in the Miscellaneous. Maybe a section in the forum could open up for Lore Discussions. Outlaw of Liangshang or heroes that were introduced from the Chinese Fiction Novel Water Margin, also had many names or games based off of them, like Suikoden. Has a total of 108 heroes (36 Heavenly Spirits, 72 Earthly Fiends), with this many characters, it becomes pretty difficult to keep track of each and every one of them. Not all of them are notable, mighty warriors as some are relegated to logistics, administrative duties, but one thing is common in that they all have pretty fancy titles attached to their names. While not particularly thrilled about their introduction into this game (same goes for Three Kingdoms and Journey to the West heroes, all of which are their own literary works but somehow all got lumped into Three Kingdom Portal/Event because they are all Chinese?), I got curious as to who they are trying to introduce and which ones are considered Rare / Epic / Legendary. With the way this game is based, I am surprised not every one of them are going to be Legendary Cards just so SGG can make money off of each and every and single one of them. I have read the novel, albeit the version I read is kind of abridged, so with each one that got introduced, I tend to try to see if they are ones I have read about or if they are famous. I am not an expert on Water Margin, but some of the recent choices that got released are for characters I have actually not read about in the version I heard. Even more amazed as to how some of them met their end. 3* Liu Tang - The Red Haired Demon. Died in a battle when he tried to rush through the gates and was crushed by a falling beam. 4* Gu Dasao - The Female Tiger, An Inn/Tavern owner. Joined Liangshan and acted as one of the lookouts. Retired as a commoner. Was the only female hero to survive and live out her life in peace. 5* Chao Gai - Pagoda Shifting Heavenly King. Was actually not one of the 108 Liangshan Outlaws as he died from a poisoned arrow, before they assembled together. His position was succeeded by Song Jiang. 5* Song Jiang - The Timely Rain. Became leader of Liangshan after death of Chao Gai, eventually had the entire faction of Liangshan submit to / granted amnesty by the Imperial courts. Died by poison when corrupted officials sent him poisoned wine to consume in the name of the Emperor. 5* Li Kui - The Black Cyclone. Killed a family of 4 tigers who ate his elderly mother. Faithful follower to Song Jiang. Died with Song Jiang when he shared the same poison wine. 5* Shi Jin - Nine Tattooed Dragon. Expert with the Staff and has Tattoo of Nine Dragons on his body as his namesake. Started as the son of a village elder, but eventually joined a band of bandits and ended up joining Liangshan. Died in battle when he was shot by an arrow during an ambush. 5* Wu Yong - The Knowledgeable Star. Stated as a teacher who was said to show comparison with historical strategists like Zhuge Liang. Became the chief military strategist in Liangshan. After the death of Song Jiang and Li Kui, had a dream in which they talked about their deaths. Died by suicide hanging as he visited Song's grave. 5* Lin Chong - Panther Head - Lance Instructor, leader of Liangshan's calvary. Was stricken with a stroke after the final campaign that eventually caused him be paralyzed and was being cared for by Wu Song. But eventually died after succumbing to sickness. 5* Wu Song - The Pilgrim - Famous for killing Tiger with bare hands after he was drunk. Eventually joined Liangshan and their campaign. Lost an arm during one of the battles that never really allowed him to recover but lived until the end of his life. 5* Lu Zhishen - The Flowery Monk - Originally part of the military, became a monk after he had killed someone while off-duty to hide from his captors. Befriended Lin Chong and Wu Song and eventually joined Liangshan. After completion of their final campaign, he died peacefully in meditation. 5* - Ruan Xiaoqi - The Living King Yama. Fisherman by trade with his brothers. Joined Liangshan and became one of their naval officers, was one of the few that survived until after the final campaign. 5* Zheng Tianshou - The fair faced gentleman. Originally a silversmith turned bandit before joining Lianshang, died in battle in the final campaign from a projectile. 5* Xiang Chong - The Eight Armed Ne-Zha. Originally a bandit. Wields a shield and spear with throwing knives he use as projectiles. Tripped up in a battle from a lasso from the enemy he was fighting and was cut to shreds before he could get back up. 5* Hu Sanniang - Ten Feet of Blue. Favoring sabers and lasso. Was an opposing force against Liangshan and defeated many of Liangshang's generals before losing to Lin Chong. Died in battle when hit by a magic projectile. 5* Sun Erniang - Female Yaksha. Originally a tavern owner. Eventually joined Liangshan and served as a scout. Died in battle. Some of these heroes I have no idea who they were and what their accomplishments were until I researched a bit about them, and I am not even sure deserved their 5* status to be honest. At this point, is there any one who is going to be released that will still be assigned 3* and 4* at all?

Adobrable! Has the El dia de los muertos feel. The movie Coco had a very interesting world view in which life as we know it celebrates those that have passed on, and they will exist in the underworld as long as there are people who still remember them, so maybe we should say underworld view. Sabina is a hero I still use because I don't have any one who does what she does (bulk heals and dispels) better at purple so she shows up when I take on Yellow titans. Still squishy because I only have her C1 and all her others still managed to evade me all this time. Maybe I could get them when her stylish comes out.

Xiang Chong - 5* - Nature - Outlaws of Liangsham - Hero Topic
Shohoku79 replied to PlayForFun's topic in Nature
Lore AKA the Eight Armed Ne-Zha who is armed with a shield, a spear, and famous for carrying throwing knives on his back to use as projectile weapons. Originally an opposing bandit leader before joining Liangshan. Died in battle when an enemy general tripped him with a lasso and mobs descended upon him before he could get up and cut him into shreds. -
Lady Woolerton (Primary Costume) - 4* - Holy - Springvale - Hero Topic
Shohoku79 replied to PlayForFun's topic in Costumes
The OG Wool lady came at a time when the number of 4* healers (especially in the yellow) were pretty lacking, and her having a bulk heal and having the self-debilitating part that could be negated if there is already a debuff prevention status before she fires her heal was pretty frequently used combination back then. She was definitely one of the more sought after heroes I wanted for a while, but never managed to pull for a couple of years until I eventually did few years ago, had never been so happy to get a 4* before. Always good to see old heroes getting some love.- 3 replies

Squire Wabbit (Primary Costume) - 3* - Fire - Springvale - Hero Topic
Shohoku79 replied to PlayForFun's topic in Costumes
The oldest Seasonal Event Hero in this game got a costume (Jack O'Hare and Master Lepus already had theirs years ago), looks like there is still hope yet for some of the others that were left out in the cold. -
Being a bit ambitious here are we? You mean additional building levels to upgrade and use our iron? While that would be kind of interesting and all, it would probably be a logistic nightmare for a bunch of existing players who has resources / recruits stored and queued up in the HA, because buildings of course cannot be upgraded when there are active sessions and unlike the TC, which you might be able to reallocate some of them from the TC you are trying to upgrade to others, there is only one HA so one will have to offload the resources into TCs instead. But what else is there to do with the Hero Academy levels that would fit with Empires and Puzzles today? Could we re-train 3* and 4* in hopes of getting someone different (e.g. HA10 but for Rares and Epics), maybe throw a 5* in there and the result would be someone different to come out with the possibility of being partially ascended, fully ascended, LB1, LB2 (like the Ascension Portal). Honestly, with how little QOL they seem to enjoy focusing on (not really), I'd like to see improvements rather than new stuff.

Dawa, Guardian of the Perpetual Sands
Shohoku79 replied to Habanero's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
When you said that, one other character came to mind was Kailani, who (although kind took a secondary seat to Gunnar for similar abilities in their OG forms) was originally billed as a "Healer" but her abilities throughout her existence and costumes did not have any healing aspect (Spirit Link (later changed to Soul Connected), Defense Buff, Attack Buff, Reflect, etc.)), and here comes her Stylish C4, which actually gave her some HoT abilities. Her Stylish Costume now is probably my favorite one out of all 4 versions because it seemed different and it just made her looks sort of pop. Here is hoping there would be some head-turning art for Dawa on her stylish costume. Sure it won't make people use her more, but at least it would make it not as boring to look at. -
My current functions are locked up so I couldn't see, but I think it is somewhere around 5 or 6 days (if not matching the 7 day crawl from HA10). This is also why I was trying to look for the "re-mounted" forum post about the Hero Academy information (that was part of the old forum) here, but I guess that is still being worked on to be added back in? You mean the usual beaten to death ones? Let's see - Shorten training time (7 days for a more often than not vanilla 5* flip is pretty long) - Allow more (at least 3) simultaneous functions (again, for something that is supposed to be one of the last buildings in the stronghold, it shouldn't be so low powered). - Allow queuing for retraining functions, which should also be able to show you the resources required. - Allow the little information "I" help hint to be accessible mid session so players don't have to wait until when the function is freed up to access it. Just so we could access the list of heroes available as possible results, and the aforementioned training times?

A different art style you went with good ol' Tudan here compared to your other renditions. A while ago, I had an idea for a fanfic that I never got around into finishing had Tudan being a man of little words in a band of brigands led by Brogan who just happened to rescue/recruit Sharan who was fleeing from some local hoodlums. Glad to see Tudan getting some attention here.

Looks like whatever uproar players have had in the past when Toons were first released (for their art design/style) are now a distant memory because they are starting to Toon everything else. Honestly, some of the characters already look like Toons themselves without the Toon sticker. Was curious to see if this was going to replace the Costume Masquerade / Costume Chamber combo, but looks like it would be its own event/portal, but just using identical currencies. Previous nerf at key acquisition chances from RNG can't be great news to players who might end up wanting to pull for costumed vanillas and costumed/Tooned non-vanillas.

Mack - 4* - Fire - Underwild - Hero Topic
Shohoku79 replied to Maryij - Ghost Division RO's topic in Fire
I just got Mack and costume today, not from the hard to accumulate these days Underwild Coins, but the Mystic Summon. Though the announcement of S2/S3 Toon costumes means the S4/S5 are likely getting theirs too puts a bit of dimness on the luster, but a milestone is still a milestone.- 4 replies

Thanks, I am hoping HA9 is also getting the revamp to include the 4* Epic Troops (Ninja, Cyclops, Magic) because they have already been made into the roster of Epic Troops Portal as possible results. I remembered when HA was first introduced a few years ago and some players actually pulled a Ninja Troop out of one of the HA9 result how "quickly" the devs quashed that feature (but allowing the players to keep that Troop). Fast forward to when Dragon Spire was made and people were actually getting Ancient Dragons out of Hatchery 10 as the results, but this one actually allowed to happen for a few months before they took that away too. I barely got to Hatchery 10, and ran it for few weeks, had never pulled any Ancient 5* from that portal, but I know someone in my alliance did. Timing is key, Hero Academy is not an entry level building, but it is also not a new building. HA9 is doing what it is supposed to do, taking a 4* Troop that the player owns and spits back another 4* Troop. I don't think it is asking much for HA9 to spit out non-vanilla 4* as possible results as these troops are already possible results from portal and the retrain results are still RNG with the only sure thing being that it won't be the same troop you put in.
-
Right, that's what I was hoping for too during the drought, but haven't gotten any non-vanilla, non-vanillas with costume, or vanillas with costumes since that annoncement. However, I believe this is still subjected to the released after ### days eligibility/stipulation. Otherwise, you should have also gotten Glass Lianna and Stylish Lianna.

Dawa, Guardian of the Perpetual Sands
Shohoku79 replied to Habanero's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
I wouldn't mind if game art for Dawa looked more like this versus her current form. Guess they never paid much attention to her since she was meant to be just a hold over hero until you move onto someone better. Her impression lore-wise doesn't help either because she seemed more like a security detail for a royal family, has the stats of a rare, but not versatile enough in abilities. -
Likewise, a few of my HoTM came this way, a very few. And like you when I was running HA10, I had been hoping for S1 costumes to tag along when a non vanilla is not the result. I have also acquired one or two S1 costumes that way, but few and far between with some duplicates (I got Quintus C2 - the Love Doctor this way, even before getting his C1, and duplicate Joon C1 costume). However, I have been hitting a drought since when they announced the expansion of the roster, and the costume roll will start including all the costume sets that are eligible to be acquired), that I decided to take a bit of the aforementioned break. Since starting on HA8, I have had a few non-vanilla 4* paying a visit, but they were all dupes and were fed. They really need to reduce the wait time, cost and improve the functionality of HA (more simultaneous actions), because HA is not an entry level building, it takes a while to get there, and for it to be so throttled in power is absurd.

Currently on Level 115, I am capped at 408, it will take me 600 gems to add an additional 5. I play as a collector, so I've managed to hold onto one copy of every 3* and above I've acquired on my roster. Dupes are not kept, I am only temporarily holding onto dupe 5* I get to exchange for Soul Exchange. I currently have 6 free roster spots left to collect feeders from the various training camps. It is a good thing costumes don't cost roster space. With the number of heroes in this game, they should definitely be more generous with the ones being given at every other level ups.
