This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the  Challenge of  Toons  Quest.
Don’t get too attached

• Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.
• It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.
• So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

 Challenge of Toons Quest

• This is 5 level Quest.
• Each level can be played once.
• It is like Covenant Quest when you are playing against 5 enemy heroes in various raid formations.
• Battle items can not be used.

 Special Rule: Challange of the Toons

• Try your strength against  Toon Heroes.
• This quest is played without the use of battle items.

It contains non Season-1 heroes only which has got  Toon  costumes.
You are getting all costumes for the pulled heroes.

• There is a Bonus Ascension Material chest for the summon.
  • Summon 10 times to open a Bonus Ascension Material Chest !
  • The chest is guaranteed to contain Rare and Epci Ascension Materials.
  • The chest can also contain Rare and epci Crafting Materials.
  • Your progress towards the next chest will carry over the next Costume Summon event if you still have chest in stock.

Looks like whatever uproar players have had in the past when Toons were first released (for their art design/style) are now a distant memory because they are starting to Toon everything else.  Honestly, some of the characters already look like Toons themselves without the Toon sticker.

Was curious to see if this was going to replace the Costume Masquerade / Costume Chamber combo, but looks like it would be its own event/portal, but just using identical currencies.  Previous nerf at key acquisition chances from RNG can't be great  news to players who might end up wanting to pull for costumed vanillas and costumed/Tooned non-vanillas.

I'm torn if I'll pull in this new chamber when it launches.  With so few 3 and 4 star heroes, this is the opportunity to get them quickly.  But any hero that was "meh" years ago is still fairly meh.  Most legendaries are worth it for their stats alone (for me).

For I don’t know how many years, I’ve been wishing I could update my poor costumeless Ariel — but even when VO started, there are so many other old heroes of mine needing costumes, that  it’s hard to justify using a pick on something that would be what, maybe barely 4* effectively?

So depending on the stat upgrade, if Ariel’s new numbers actually make her competitive again, it might be kinda tempting.

As for it being Toons… well… mixed feelings. The aesthetic is, I’d say, “blah” if not “ugh” at best, but the “resist most things lol, at least when you face off against Toons” passive is often useful, admittedly.

 

• Will S2 toons *only* be available through this toon!Covenant?

 It feels like it would be a missed opportunity to not also have them in the S2 portal — to make S2 coins have some meaning, say. As it is, it’s hard to imagine many people would currently buy S2 coins, for one thing; even beginner accounts could presumably be buying/soon be buying *any number* of summoning coins with hilariously higher-powered heroes instead.

I think S1 costumes are better than  S2,S3...Anyway,Loki and AFK are nice! waiting them.

I’m not sure at all, I’m straight-up asking!  I just thought it was weird that the new!toons get their own event… and then compete with Costume Chamber with a shared summoning currency?

I mean, I’m definitely not advocating for yet another separate kind of summoning coin here, but it will create a potentially odd tension between “do I use keys to hope for, e.g. toon!Ariel or stylish!Vivica?”

Also it seems weird to not have toon!S2 be primarily a mechanism to rejuvenate interest in the S2 portal and associated Atlantis coins.  I mean, there’s nothing stopping SG from offering toon!S2 in both, but if there IS both:

• the new toon portal has only toon non-S1, and
• the S2 portal has toon!S2… and a bunch of old costume!S2, maybe S1, and maybe even still old HotM

having both won’t do much for S2 portal sales if the toon!S2 portal is like, right there instead.  (I suppose if SG substantially reworks the S2 portal, but it might seem unlikely it will strip out all the non-toon and S1 possibilities too…)

right, I am wondering the same things It´s going to be strange either way. A new competing portal with a shared currency is like UT portals, so not unprecedented, but I guess having to make a choice isn´t the worst thing ever. Having the same heroes pullable in 2 different portals with 2 different currencies is also not unprecedented, but so far that was only true for old filler heroes, or special guess portals like covenant/wilderness. 
Personally I would have done what you suggest and simply used the toons to spruce up the old portals, but I guess the problem with that is that too many people have saved up these garbage coins now and would get too many free pulls? 
They could have used this as a thing to relaunch the legends portal as well... 
But whatever way it goes can´t hurt to at least make a few of those old heroes interesting again. Ariel vs. Vivica is an easy choice. I got the stylish Vivica, but I am never going to upgrade a slow hero with 5 costumes lol, I never even upgraded Glass Azlar, because it´s too much work. Ariel with 2 is plenty enough, but at least reasonable. But if I go through the options, there are extremely few with interesting skills, that will become interesting heroes with minor skill buff and toon passive even if they all get modern stats. Not many of them besides Ariel and some titan (Tarlak/Oceanus) or niche (Mitsuko) heroes. In S3 the only serious option I can think of is LoLo, so mostly it´ll be the hotm costumes that are interesting, like Hel, Athena, etc.
